Disclosure Page

I’ve been reading blogs about the fact that the FTC is requiring bloggers to disclose if they write paid reviews, or receive products for free to review, etc. There have been some great blog posts about this, and so I decided to join the fray and write my own “post” here as well as hopefully comply with the FTC. Here is what you should assume:

I don’t yet make money from all my blog posts, but I would like to, and if I can figure out a way to do it I will!

I have some affiliate links on the post. Affiliate links mean that if you click on the link and then you purchase something at the link site I make a % of that sale. As I write this I make about $20 a month with affiliate links but I hope to add many zeros to that number in the future!

I haven’t been paid to write any reviews. I’d be glad to get paid to write some, so if there is something you want me to review, go ahead and send it! If I am getting paid to write a review I will let you, the reader, know that I was paid. But whether paid or not I’ll be completely honest about how I feel about the product, and I will give an honest review.

So far no one has sent me a product to review. If they do I’m going to assume, and you should too, that I got the product for free. I’m pretty sure that I’m naive enough that I’ll buy a product on my own and then review it! I should try and change that, right?

In these disclosure statements that people are blogging about they include statements about making money from Twitter messages. Can you make money from Twitter messages? I don’t make any money from sending out Twitter messages yet, but it’s an interesting idea, and if I can figure out how I’m sure I’ll try some.

The next area is email. I guess there is concern about what people are doing with information in emails. If you email me I’ll try and figure out how the information you send can be of use to me, and if I can make money from that I’ll try that too.

Given who I am and what I look like, the possibility that anyone is going to pay me to wear anything (shoes, shirts, designer clothing) is really remote, so I think I feel comfortable saying that no one is paying me for anything I’m wearing.

The real reasons I write this blog — here are, honestly, the real reasons I write this blog:

  • I write my blog because I like to write and I like psychology, and I like to think about psychology and share those thoughts with others.
  • I am taking a blogging “course” and I’m learning a lot and trying to apply it all within my blog to learn more.
  • I’d love to sell more of my book, Neuro Web Design because people like my blog. I don’t make a lot of money when I sell my book, but if I could sell 1,000,000 copies that would add up. I have a long way to go. I hope you will help by buying a copy!
  • I’d like my blog to lead to money making opportunities.
  • I’ve always wanted to be famous. I don’t know why exactly, but I always have. So I am hoping that by writing this blog I’ll work my way on to Good Morning America or Oprah.

I think I’ve disclosed everything there is to disclose in one of these disclosure pages. Let me know if you have questions or comments. You can find out how to contact me through my contact me page.
