Workshop Description:
How much more effective would you be if you better understood how people think, learn, and relate? In this fast paced, interactive workshop, you will learn about the latest research on people, the brain, and psychology: why people behave in certain ways, how people make decisions, how unconscious mental processes direct behavior, and how you can learn to be more effective in dealing with people. The workshop is hands-on. Not only will you learn about the research, you will experience the results in individual and group activities that drive the point home. It’s fun, it’s interactive, and it’s packed with research and practical take-aways. Here’s a sample of what you will learn:
Framing and anchoring – how people are influenced unconsciously by seemingly random information around them
Attention – How to grab and hold someone’s attention. What distracts people. How to keep yourself or others on task
The dopamine loop – How neurotransmitters in the brain affect our information seeking and other behaviors
Which parts of the brain are active in creativity — The 5 things you can do to be more creative everyday
Human memory is fallible – What we know about the way human memory works
Multi-tasking – Can people really multi-task or is that a myth?
How having too many choices means you won’t choose at all.
Which decisions you should make by “gut” intuition, and which you should analytically reason through
3 things you can do to help a team bond
Why stories and pictures are so important in communicating with others
How what you DON’T say communicates more than what you do say
Strong ties and weak ties – how many people can you really have in your “circle” of influence?
When is stress a good thing, and how much is too much?
And much much more!
